| MissionBaobab Humanity Initiative (BHI) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate the public on issues critical to human development in western Africa, especially in Benin and the surrounding region, by supporting innovative projects led by individuals in the region. BHI intends to create a better understanding of the importance of global interaction and cultural exchange, by promoting active engagement and solidarity with communities in need. GoalsSupport innovative projects in health, environment, and the educational fields that impact community development, focusing specifically on projects benefiting women & children. Create educational exchanges by way of immersion trips, the support of guest lecturers and performers, and by promoting the preservation music, dance, and art. Objectives / ActivitiesHuman Development : Changing The Lives Of Women & Children Help improve the lives of people living precariously in Benin and the surrounding region by providing support to existing programs focused on reducing of poverty Advocate for the elevation of the status of women and children through access to education and economic security.
Educational & Cultural Exchange Encourage inter-cultural exchange between U.S (primarely the Bay Area, CA) and African organizations, individuals and students by - Creating opportunities for performances, exhibits, recitals, concerts, festivals, lectures, literary gatherings and panel discussions
- Organizing short stays in African communities for students and other groups.
Promoting Native Culture ↔ Preserving Historical Identity Help the ongoing effort in preserving Africa’s native cultural heritage for future generations by: - Assisting and encouraging African authors/artists to produce, publish and circulate their research and work
- Providing support to underfunded local radio and TV stations working to preserve and promote regional identity and native culture
